![]() ![]() Air pockets will prevent proper cooling and may lead to overheating. Letting the vehicle run with the coolant cap off and the heater on high will allow any air pockets in the system, including the heater core, to escape. ![]() Generally, this service is not much more involved than draining the antifreeze, adding new liquid, and purging air bubbles from the cooling system, sometimes called “burping”. If contaminants like oil are present in the drained coolant, it can be indicative of other problems. In addition to preventing issues, a coolant flush is an opportunity to inspect the entire cooling system for issues. This process is called chemical electrolysis and can be catastrophic if left unaddressed. Over time these additives lose their effectiveness, increasing the wear and tear on cooling system components through lack of lubrication and corrosive buildup.ģ.) Antifreeze can become acidic as it ages, causing plastics, rubber hoses, and metal components to rapidly corrode. If you go too long without flushing your coolant, these particles can clog passages, potentially damaging your heater core or overheating your engine.Ģ.) Coolant contains anti-corrosive and lubricating additives that help prevent rusting and keep the water pump functioning well. Neglecting coolant flushes can lead to some serious issues:ġ.) Scale and rust particles will build up in the cooling system over time. Keeping all components in the cooling system like the water pump, thermostat, heater core, and hoses in good condition will prevent overheating and reduce the chance of an expensive repair. The cooling system has many components, and the antifreeze helps protect them. Why Are Regular Coolant Flushes Important?Ĭoolant flushes are about more than just replacing a liquid. This process repeats itself the entire time your car is running.Īdditionally, hot coolant passes through the heater core, which provides hot air in the cabin of your vehicle on cold mornings and winter days. The hot coolant then passes through the radiator and cools down. The entire cooling system is responsible for keeping your engine within safe operating temperature by removing access heat. However, neglecting coolant flushes can lead to some pretty serious problems down the road, potentially leading to some expensive repairs.Ĭoolant, or antifreeze, is a liquid that cycles through your engine block, radiator, and heater core, driven by the water pump. If you don’t flush your cooling system, you probably won’t have any issues for many years, and if you do, you won’t notice any real difference when driving your car. Coolant flushes are one of the easy-to-put-off services. Unless you’ve blown a coolant line or replaced a leaking radiator, you might not give your coolant much thought. The absolute best way to ensure reliability is to perform ALL maintenance services at the correct intervals.Įnter the coolant flush. However, neglecting any service can lead to catastrophe down the road. If you don’t notice any change, why go out of your way and spend money? It’s easy to fall into that mindset. The services that don’t directly impact how your day-to-day drive feels are much more likely to be neglected, or even forgotten altogether. Brake problems can cause a lot of trouble, ranging from inconvenient to downright dangerous. Misaligned wheels or tires with excessive wear can drastically impact drivability. Other than oil changes, all of these other services impact components of your car you can easily feel while you drive. ![]() When you think of regular vehicle maintenance, the first services that pop into your head are probably things like oil changes, tire rotations, brake services, and maybe alignments. ![]() ![]() ![]() Using methods such as fetchone(), fetchmany(), Retrieve data from the database by iteration or Send commands to the database using methods such as execute() The class cursor allows interaction with the database: Terminate transactions using the methods commit() or It allows to:Ĭreate new cursor instances using the cursor() method to The class connection encapsulates a database session. You may choose any of these techniques to improve the performance. postgres=# ALTER SEQUENCE sensor_log_sensor_log_id_seq CACHE 1000 ALTER SEQUENCE But the sequence_range GUC provides an easy way to override the global default and also ensures that the sequences are cached only when they are getting incremented very rapidly. Following example shows how to do that for a serial column. Similar improvement can also be achieved by increasing the CACHE parameter value of the sequence so that a chunk of sequence values are cached at the backend level. To address this issue, Postgres-XL starts with the specified CACHE parameter value used at sequence creation time and doubles it every time (limited by sequence_range) if sequences are being consumed at a very high rate. Its important to note that while a high value of sequence_range will improve performance for sequences and serials, it can also leave large holes in sequence ranges since the sequence ranges are cached at a backend level. But looking at the performance implications for a very common use case, we decided to increase the default to 1000 and this has now been committed to the XL9_5_STABLE branch of the repository. When this feature was added, the default value of sequence_range GUC was set to 1 because it can leave holes in the sequence values. So by appropriately setting sequence_range to 1000, performance of the INSERT query improved by nearly 30 times. Postgres=# INSERT INTO sensor_log (location, reading, reading_date) SELECT s.id % 1000, s.id % 100, now() - (s.id || 's')::INTERVAL FROM generate_series(1, 40000) s(id) Here is an example, using the same sample schema as used by Shaun in his blog post. Unfortunately, for regular INSERTs, the default is 1 and unless user explicitly sets sequence_range to a reasonably higher value, INSERT performance suffers. Given that COPY is popularly used to bulk load data in Postgres, Postgres-XL automatically overrides this GUC during COPY operation and sets it to 1000, thus dramatically improving COPY performance. Every backend requests a block of sequence values as controlled by this GUC. Postgres-XL provides a user-settable GUC called sequence_range. I thought this is a good opportunity to explain the facility. There is already a way to improve performance for sequences, but it’s clearly not well advertised. Shaun Thomas in a recent blog complained about INSERTs running a magnitude slower on Postgres-XL as compared to vanilla PostgreSQL. This adds significant overhead for a query doing thousands of INSERTs in a table with a serial column, incrementing sequence one at a time and making a network roundtrip to the GTM, for every INSERT. In Postgres-XL, sequences are maintained at the Global Transaction Manager (GTM) to ensure that they are assigned non-conflicting values when they are incremented from multiple nodes. Although the effects of taurine deficiency in humans are largely unknown, it is clear that infants depend on taurine for their neurodevelopment. Subsequently, it was shown that cats and dogs with taurine deficiency developed cardiomyopathy. The focus of this review is to demonstrate the beneficial effects of taurine on CVD complications and factors that are associated with the risk of CAD (i.e., type-2 diabetes and obesity).Īlmost five decades ago, it was noted that a diet deficient of taurine led to the development of retinopathy in cats. Indeed, it has been documented that the weekly seafood consumption in Japan (up to 580 g/week) compared to the Western world (USA: as low as 63 g/week) might be associated with lower CVD and longer life expectancy compared to the Western world. The taurine content per 100 g in seaweed (>600 mg), oysters (396 mg), and fish (130 mg), compared to beef (43.1 mg), chicken (17.8 mg), pork (61.2 mg), and lamb (43.8 mg), clearly suggests that research on the biological effects of relatively high taurine is required to be investigated. However, whether increasing the intake of seafood (relatively high in taurine concentration) to reduce the development of CAD and thus CVD remains an open question. Seafood is already considered a recommended and essential aspect of a healthy diet globally. Furthermore, diets that lack adequate taurine levels can adversely impact on the health status of the fetus during pregnancy, which may lead to increased risk of pathologies in adulthood. ![]() Considering that meat consumption is a major contributor to global warming, certain lifestyle choices which reduce or eliminate animal product intake using renewable food sources are needed to supplement dietary patterns, which may not be adequate. Plant-based diets need to be well planned if they are to provide cardiovascular benefits, as there are differences in nutrients between plant-source foods, which may lead to nutrient deficiencies. Given that taurine has anti-inflammatory properties, it is an important amino acid in controlling cardiovascular disease (CVD), as inflammation has been suggested to be one of the major contributors to type-2 diabetes (a risk factor of CVD). In humans, taurine has shown anti-inflammatory effects, blood pressure regulation, and at high levels, may protect against coronary heart disease (CAD). The oxidation of hypotaurine, via an unknown enzyme, renders taurine. Molecular oxygen is then incorporated into cysteine to form cysteinesulfinate, which leads to the production of hypotaurine. Homocysteine is converted into cystathionine, which in turn is converted into cysteine. ![]() Taurine can also be synthesized endogenously from dietary intake of methionine to the homocysteine conversion pathway in humans. Taurine is present in high amounts in: shellfish (scallops, mussels, clams), red meat, organ meats, chicken, turkey, eggs, and more recently, in energy drinks. Taurine (2-aminoethanesulphonic acid) is a sulfur-containing α-amino acid abundantly expressed in animal tissues (including the brain, retina, muscles, and organs throughout the body). ![]() ![]() While picking the right server community or modifying the game may require patience, Minecraft is big enough to encompass a world of playing styles. I can see for regular VPN connection, there's settings for Keep Alive. These packets aren't getting dropped due to my connection clearly not being saturated. On clients with faster upload speeds (I am luck enough to give 1gig symmetrical fiber at home), this is not an issue, as SMB traffic and uploads cap out at around 30-40mbit for me for SMB, and 100mbit or so for HTTPS (We have 500mbit symmetrical lines for the SonicWall). When the SonicWall fails to get replies, it drops the client. Because the users connection is saturated, and these are probably given no priority and being dropped by the client itself, or the clients modem/router/ISP as it's trying to cram data into a saturated pipe. What I assume is happening, is the SonicWall keeps some sort of Keep Alive packet to the client every so often, if not Ping something close to it. After doing this for anywhere from 30-60 seconds, their VPN session gets dropped. If I monitor a ping to their PC over the VPN while they transfer, or a Ping to their External IP, as soon as they transfer, it will start dropping Ping, or I get responses in the 100's of ms. (Varies by user, some with 1-2mbit upload, some with 10mbit or so). What I notice, is the upload will saturate the users home connection utilizing all available bandwidth.
